Hell, 1/4 patch bays have tons of room compared to tt/bantam patch bays. I have found that labeling the bay is too much of a pain in the ass, I have a folder in a rack drawer under the patch bays that contains a map of the patch bays. I have 1 overview that shows all the bays and all the in and outs and then I have a separate page for each bay in case my eyes are tired or I just want to focus on that bay.

Print them out landscape not portrait and it works out well. Besides, whenever I need to make a change it is just a simple edit of the map, not a complete relabeling of a patch bay. You can also color code the patch bays to correlate with the map to speed things up. Samson S-Patch? If absolutely necessary, I would go with stevelindsay's advice. Another way (if you don't have space for blank panels) could be if the racked equipment directly above and below the S-Patch has a little space at their upper/lower extremities?

If so, you may get away with a sticky strip of some kind bridging the S-Patch and the other units in question. One other way would be to put a strip right across the length of the normal/half/thru switches.

This sucks though. Personally, I don't do any labelling and prefer to memorize mine. I considered keeping a folded up word doc/diagram in a document pocket located at the inside back of my rack. However, I decided not to in the end. I have 8 pres outputs and 8 interface inputs above and below each other. The pres in my rack (top to bottom and left to right) are ordered sequentially like this in my S-Patch.

I then have 4 dbx 160x/166 channels. Therefore, for me, navigating the first 12 I/Os is a breeze. Speedwise in terms of workflow, I'd easily give Rosemary the telephone operator a run for her money. My second half is not as easy but dooable even if I have to scratch my head for a second. A bit of wise arrangement may do wonders for you.

There are screws in the S-Patch which separate the I/Os into 3 sets of 8. This allows for a quick way if discerning which I/O you need to get to. This helps immensely. Hey guys, just like you I have ben looking for a labelling solution for my Neutrik Patch Panels, without much result. So I created a template for my situation and wanted to share with y'll. The file is created with, a fantastic simple graphic app.

You can download it here: It is just what I created for myself. The file is easy to understand with proper layers for all content. Please note that the colour that I used are a bit too weak when printed. Next time I'll use stronger colours If you export this to pdf, and you print, you can use a knife to cut the strips.

That's why they are so close together. Only 12 will fit the paper, so please note that each row on that patch panel corresponds to 2 rows in the file.
