Oh man so many people are going to hate this game. I have not played the other demo for some time so again it took me a while to get used to the game. This is not a game you pick up and play and feel comfortable right away. You really have to work at it, but today's gamer is used to having everything easy to play and control. The camera is an issue cause it is sloppy compared to most TPSs, its too close, too loose.
When the action ramps up the game can feel like a mess, especially the first time you play. This is a game you have to put lots of time to get the most of it.
The new demo offers a much better view of what the full game is going to feel like and I am not so sure about it. The Leon's demo was strange, the car moment and other QTE like mini game segments felt like something out of another game. Its not like QTEs of RE4 or RE5. Shooting zombies is a blast even if they pose almost no threat. The patio area allows for the most peaceful time to play around with your move set, mixing shooting with melee.
Chris demo freaked me out cause I was being sniped in a RE game, that messed with my head. I actually had to use cover which isn't implemented poorly, it feels decent enough. This was my favorite part of the whole demo as the action flowed at a great pace and the giant monster attack is the kind of gameplay moments that make RE games so incredible. This section gives me hope that the full game will still be filled with great moment after great moment.
Jake's demo was the one I did not like at all, which is strange cause I liked his section the most in the last demo. The level design in this section is terrible, its like random containers lined up and it repeats over and over. Then you have those little. things running around hitting me with crap I couldn't see. This area just did not flow properly.
He has all sorts of weapons which is fun to mess with but with Jake it is still best to just change and melee guys. I need to work on this area more, my first go was just ugly. I think RE6 will still have the great setpieces, enemies and bosses that are better than most action games. I know the controls aren't ideal and it will be what makes or breaks the games for most.
I will play the demo many more times and like last time I bet I will enjoy it more each time. I don't hate this or anything, but. I only had time to play the Leon part and I kept thinking 'this is a scrolling beat 'em up' Capcom has made Final Fight 4 and disguised it as Resident Evil.
Zombie comes, I kung-fu kick his face in and stomp his head by mashing R1. Many zombies come, I shoot them all in the leg and kung-fu kick their faces in and stompety stomp. Leon performs hilarious and overkill wrestling moves on zombies (guess that's Haggar's legacy) and some of them carry knives, broken bottles and iron pipes. Final Fight 4, I tell you. I'm one of those guys that will save ammo at all costs and I will always use the weak infinite weapon when effective enough and save the stronger ones for bigger enemies, so this demo ended up a series of beatings.
It plays alright aside from this, I only have some minor things that made me shrug: Leon's sprinting animation is weird, cover is pointless and the plot is pure Cheddar cheese: obviously zombified president shambles towards him and Leon goes 'Mr President? Don't make me shoot you!'
, then they find a car 'I guess we found our ride out of hell!' And they crash it 6 seconds later. We need more olives with all this cheese. One thing I really liked is the impact bullet have on zombies: arms will fly off and headshots will result in chunks of their heads to go missing before it explodes with follow-up shots. Pretty stylish. Also, most zombies in this town are hot college chicks.
The more I play the better it is. Few things to note: - Dont forget you have a stamina bar which is used for melee attacks and the quick shot, I totally forgot about it till now. Dont forget you have a quick shot which is the best way to quick turn to the nearest enemy, plus it stuns them for some melee instant kills.
If you stun a zombie with a weapon you can instant kill them with that weapon, I have axed a zombies head off, stabbed one with their own knife, fun stuff. You can counter enemies that try to hit you with their melee if timed right.
Context sensitive kills you can do some awesome things to enemies when they are near a table or a raised wall. I think I have found all the blue medallions, I love that the Leon one is hidden in a drawer. There has to be a trophy for blowing up all the balloons in the university during the main game. Chris demo played so much better when I played it smart.
Took my time mixing cover shooting with charging the enemy when there are openings. Minding my surroundings so I dont get blindsided by enemy fire. It felt really good. Obviously camera and control issues are still there but I rather have this many options in the combat than say a game where all you do is fire from cover like a certain TPS. Replayed Jake's demo and I like it now. Man I have never played a game that feels so bad the first time then like a cloud is lifted and there is all this awesome you can do. I had no clue Jake's rifle had a secondary grenade launcher attachment.
When playing as Jake dont forget to use his hands and do the lock on attack, it will obliterate anyone in the area. The best way to kill the crab dudes is to do the melee lock on, it will stun them then you can go into the QTE to finish them off. Hell you can even do the lock on from cover so that you pop out running full speed at them and you can do a flash dodge if the enemy is shooting those spikes at you. I finally understood what was going on with the enemies, when they turn to crystal they are in standby and if you shoot them they explode into the mutant enemies. I think some are scripted but you can avoid most of those things if you watch where you shoot which is a decent gameplay mechanic. What I dont like is how you get knocked back often, especially after ever damn needle attack.
Also I cant seem to dodge the dudes with the giant tentacle arm seems to me like once they attack you they have locked on and even if you dive out of the way you will get grabbed. But I did manage to counter one, I grabbed the tentacle as it was coming at me and swung the enemy around with it, AWESOME. Helena's hydra quick shot move is excellent, you all have to try it out.
Few things about Leon's demo that I had not mentioned before. The football field looks like something out of last gen, ugly. The animation of the zombies when the metal detector goes off, WTF, lol. In the car section you can do nothing and it just keeps on going forever, it is all for show. For some zombie fun save all your ammo and get to the part where you need to run to the car but dont go to the car.
It becomes a zombie infestation in a small area, start quick shooting and you will see some cool stuff. That said I am thinking Leon's demo is the most boring, the other demos really force you to play well. Played Leon's part and it was ok, controls are more fluid then RE5 for sure but the camera is clunky for some reason. Game has a much faster pace then RE5 and its pretty much an Uncharted type of game. Chris section, I didn't like it at all felt like Call of Duty.
If they wanted to go this route why don't they copy for Gears of Wars, Max Payne 3 since they have superior mechanics. This just played like a mindless shooter. Jake's section is the one I liked, he's very agile and has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal. More variety to him. Overall though I feel like cancelling my preorder, if it weren't for such a slow gaming year, good thing is it will have plenty of content. I'll think about it.
QUOTE='dvader654'QUOTE='BlackKnight00'QUOTE='dvader654'Its up on XBL. Knight, cover is extremely useful in Chris' demo. I still think it should have its own dedicated button instead of mapping all to LT You can slide into it. That way you dont have to use LT to get in.
It's a pain when I'm trying to aim some dude hiding behind a wall and my character goes into cover because I'm too close to the wall, though all in all it's a minor complaint. Oh, I urge you all to play in coop and watch the ass-crawling animation. Just tell your friend to hold LT and then press A when tilting the stick in any direction, this will roll the character into 'sitting down mode' then he can move around crawling with his feet and buttcheeks. It's the silliest thing I've ever seen in a videogame:lol. Oh man so many people are going to hate this game. I have not played the other demo for some time so again it took me a while to get used to the game.

I know the controls aren't ideal and it will be what makes or breaks the games for most. I will play the demo many more times and like last time I bet I will enjoy it more each time. Dvader654 I've only played the Dragon's Dogma demo verson and I loved Leons part, not so much with Chris and Jake.
From what I've played it's already better than ORC (which was awful) and it might be better than RE5 which I did enjoy, although RE6 will have a tough time beating RE4,RE1 remake and RE2 in my book but still looks enjoyable. As a RE fan (not the cry baby ones that have been crying over the same crap since 2002 on how RE isn't the same) I have to say I'm looking forward to RE6 the more I see/play it. Looking forward to trying this out, I'm really enjoying the Dragon's Dogma demo. I'm intrigued by what Capcom have in store for Jake and Leon but it's Chris's section that I'm having the most fun with.
The action has a muscular physicality to it that I find much to my liking, and the gunplay feels much more satisfying than RE 5. The guns have a bark and boom that stand in marked contrast to the anaemic pops emitted by much of RE 5's arsenal and I like the switch to a more TPS style aiming reticule (not missing that laser sight at all). Getting into cover is a little awkward though, and sometimes the camera goes a bit squiffy. Much as I'm enjoying myself I can't shake the feeling that this game will get a critical mauling. No long until we find out. I've now played through all three demos. Leon's was by far my favourite but then again I prefer the slower pace, creeping around style of RE gameplay.
My main concern, which was evident throughout all three demos, was the dullness of the picture. It's like there's a veil of grey over the TV that cuts out all contrast. All the blacks look grey and the picture looks so flat it becomes very difficult to even see the zombies until they are on top of you. This is very tiresome as I ended up squinting at the screen to try (unsuccessfully I might add) to see into the distance. Keep in mind I have a 2012 top of the range 65' Panasonic TV, and I am still struggling to see what's going on.now that just can't be right can it?
I'm all for atmosphere, but putting a veil of grey over the entire picture and washing out all of the shadow does nothing for improving enjoyment of the game. I just hope they fix this by giving a Gamma control in the final release. QUOTE='Gamefan1986' I still can't access the demo on US Xbox Live. C program to convert ascii to bcd. I see a giant ad under Games - Demos on the dashboard that is a pic of Leon and his partner and it says 'Resident Evil 6: The demo awaits' but when I click on it it just takes me to a screen that has the option 'See Full game', no option to download it, and it isn't listed under Demos - New Releases either. Dvader654 Gold only. I was kinda hoping that wasn't the case.
I always thought that was dumb, you would think they would want as many people to play demos as possible. Oh well I'm not re-upping my gold sub until I have a real reason to. QUOTE='dvader654'QUOTE='S0lidSnake' Am passing on the demos. Will wait for the full game to be disappointed. S0lidSnake OK. I really wanted to see your reaction to the graphics. It seems great in some areas, bad in others and generally not as good as RE5.
Well that sucks. I thought RE5 was one of the best looking games when it came out.
I saw some awful tearing in the Conan review, but since im getting the PC version that wont be a problem. The tearing is gone in the demo. Not sure why the Conan demo had it.
