I own a acer 5313 notebook i thought i would have to get empowering technology and launch manager to work but when i was installing windows found my network and wireless drives for me and it worked. Its strange it does not work for you though what is the name of the wireless drivers?
Mine are broadcom. Have you tried turning on the wireless? There should be a button or switch on the out side on the top near the speakers or near the audio jack when its on there a orange light will appear and flash. Hope this helps.
